Ebru Bekaslan has a bachelor’s degree in sociology (2004) from Hacettepe University in Ankara Turkey, where she was the top student in her department. She subsequently spent a year studying in the Science and Technology Policy master’s program at Middle East Technical University while working as senior project and business analyst for an international consulting company (2005-2008). In 2008, she started working for the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg and conducted a research project aimed at developing a systematic approach to the most relevant factors and dynamics to high-tech cluster development in mid-low income countries with the focus of the potential of EIB’s various financing instruments in supporting related policies. She also received master’s degree in entrepreneurship and innovation with concentration in finance from Luxembourg Business Academy, Université de Luxembourg. In September 2009 she entered the master’s program in the Department of Regional Economic and Social Development (RESD) of the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where she is working as Professor Lazonick’s research assistant. She is also selected as Technical Assistance Expert at Delegetion of the European Commission to Turkey for Industrial policy and Small-and Medium-sized Enterprises.
