Ulrike Schaede

Ulrike Schaede is Professor of Japanese Business at the University of California, San Diego,  School of Global Policy and Strategy (GPS), and Director of JFIT, The Japan Forum of Innovation and Technology, at UC San Diego. Her research concerns Japan’s corporate strategy, business organization, financial markets, restructuring, changing human resources practices, regulation, and entrepreneurship. In her 2008 book Choose and Focus, she analyzed how Japanese business strategies have changed since 1998. She holds an M.A. from Bonn University, and a PhD from the Philipps-Universt?t in Marburg, Germany. She has spent a total of more than eight years of research and study in Japan, and currently works on a book on Japan’s most profitable companies.
